Mobsters (1991)

“Bugsy: I’m Bugsy Siegel, ever heard of me? Showgirl: No, what do you do? Bugsy: I kill people”…. Its no Godfather but its got its moments.

Mobsters tells the story of prohibition era Mobsters Charlie ‘Lucky’ Luciano, Frank Costello and Bugsy Siegel. From humble beginnings in New York to being the most powerfully men in the city. The plot worked well even though the writer used a little artistic licence, its a film about friendship, revenge and Gangsters.

Leading man Christian Slater as Charlie ‘Lucky’ Luciano is a surprisingly charismatic Gangster. The rest of the cast Patrick Dempsey as Meyer Lansky and Richard Grieco as Bugsy Siegel put in a decent performance, maybe if director Michael Karbelnikoff had a little more experience the cast could stand up to the likes of The Godfater, who knows.

After reading a few reviews about this movie I had some pre consumptions but if you enjoy Mob movies and have a 100 minutes to spare pick this up its more than worth the time. Be aware it contains graphic violence.
